If one looks far and long enough

At any point, if one looks far and long enough, one can find the original tracks that centuries ago were formed by the old prairie-schooners as they journeyed westward across the plains to Santa Fe.

This is no longer true, although there are several places in Kansas where they claim the Santa Fe Trail can still be seen. We tried each time, and failed to see them. This, for instance, is claimed to be a part of the trail, at least it seemed to be where the sign was pointing.
